Car Alarms: 2003 Murano Car Alarm - has mind of its own, alarmtek, dash area

Question
while researching this issue, I saw the question asked by Ellen in 10/07.  I have the very same issue with my 03 Murano's car alarm going off in the middle of the night for no reason and I think the service guys at Pence in Richmond think I'm nuts.  It was nice to see I'm not the only one.  However, it would have been better to see that it was resolved and what resolved it.  Have you come across anyone who actually determined what the problem was? It seemed to have been resolved last year when the alternator and battery were replaced (due to a failed alternator).  However, out of the blue it went off again recently - twice during the night.  I've been disconnecting the battery at night since then so as not to wake the dead.  -Carolyn

Answer
I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.
