Car Alarms: 2006 Honda Pilot, honda pilot, remote start

Question
I recently had an auto start system installed in my 2006 Pilot.  Now when the auto start is used the keyless entry doesn't not work?  You can use the key to unlock it, or shut off the auto start then use the keyless entry to gain access.  The auto store where I bought the alarm and had install it said for another 250 dollars they would put in another alarm.  I think I bought the xr711?  2000 footer.

Any help?

Jason

Answer
Some systems do allow for the keyless entry
to be used when in remote start mode. Most do as
a matter of fact. But when you are dealing with Honda,
it can be a default OEN safety over ride issue.
Won't unlock by remote when the ignition is
on for the protection of the occupants.

Hard to say. If not combined with an alarm using
door trigger sensing, it's also possible to unlock the doors
while being in remote start mode, but then the alarm
part of the system would be inert and won't operate
at all. This however is in most vehicles, not ALL.

Can't do these installation half way, which brings us
back to the current system's limitations, and the "door trigger/ignition on" in Honda's issues.

I know it sounds like a vicious circle, but they are correct
in a way, if your system does not allow for unlocking in
remote start mode, then a different system might indeed be
needed to achieve your goal.

If however it's a Honda issue, and regardless, it
will not allow the remote unlocking while the
ignition is on, then save your money because it
will not work no matter what you put in.
Won't unlock until the ignition is turned off.

I hope this helps some.
Try to take it to another shop for a 2nd opinion
and explain your issue to see what they
may say about it. Can't hurt and may help.

Good Luck.
