Car Alarms: Car Alarm, alarmtek, key in lock

Question
QUESTION: How can I disarm the factory installed car alarm on my '99 Audi? The first time it went off, it beeped and the lights flashed, (someone told me later) and of course drained the battery. Now it goes off all the time but only the lights flash.

ANSWER: Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: It is headlights flashing and car horn honking. I don't know about a light in the dash cuz I didn't look inside, just disabled it with my remote key before I got to it.
Thanks.

Answer
Hard to say not knowing the model you have,
but in most cases with AUDI, it's controlled by the drivers
door lock.

To disarm it would be key in lock, turn left, to disarm,
right to unlock. If that does not do it, and the remote does
not do the OEM disarm, it's likely you will need
to visit AUDI to have them disable it.

Try the key in the drivers door first to see if it
disarms.
