Car Alarms: faulty shock sensor, stage shock sensor, microscan an211

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I have a microscan AN211 car alarm with a dual stage shock sensor. I bought it off ebay as unused (it clearly was - the bags were sealed and wires were neatly wrapped)

When I came to test it, everything worked except for the shock sensor. I have got an 90% refund on it as I said that I would take it apart and investigate.

when I have taken it apart (simple) I have found a little disk, which i assume is the shock sensor, that is smashed into 3 pieces.

A photo can be seen on here:

Can I get hold of another component? What is it called?

Can I test out the alarm by "spot welding" the 3 pieces together with solder?

Steve

ANSWER: No can't fix that. try a 10.00 replacement shock sensor and
trade wires.

Any local car alarm shop will be able to help.

QUESTION: Sorry, could you clarify?

Answer
From what I saw, trying to repair the shock sensor
element won't be possible without an exact replacement.
You would not get the sensetivity needed to operate
correctly.

It would be more practicle to aquire another shock sensor
and use it with the exsisting wire port of the alarm system.

Does that make more logical sense now?
