Car Alarms: Auto Mate alarm malfunctioning on Toyota RAV4, toyota rav4, wire colors

Question
I read an answer you gave on disabling an Auto Mate alarm on a Nissan and I was wondering if the process is significantly different on a '97 Toyota RAV4. Unfortunately, the car is across town right now (where the alarm left me stranded), so I can't go and look at model numbers or wire colors. I'm trying to collect as much information as possible before I go back to the car and attempt to disable the alarm. I /think/ I know where the "valet button" is, but it had no effect. I was able to locate one small black Auto Mate box under the dash with many wires coming out of two sides. Re-seating those wires didn't help at all, and I was without tools so couldn't get deeper into the operation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Answer
Should be identicle.

Turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

Good luck.
