Car Alarms: New Battery/Car Alarm, resident technicians, battery car

Sorry if this is the wrong place... Inherited a 2005 Accord.  It was dead, needed a new battery.  Installing the new batt, the alarm is going wild, and I cannot stop it.  The car is not responsive either... shifter is locked, won't start, key unit isn't working.  There seems to be an after-market security system installed... there's a unit marked "Checkmate" mounted near the batt.  Any ideas?  Thanks all.

with this project.

I unfortunately don't know the
system you are working with to advise
you properly on it's functions,
features or trouble shooting
information. Better to check with a tech
that might.
