Car Alarms: Honda Civic Factory Alarm, alarmtek, dash area

Question
QUESTION: Ok, when I hit my unlock key on my remote it will unlock the car but not turn off the alarm. I have to use the master lock on the door to turn off the alarm. Also when I lock the car with the remote, it locks the car but it will not turn on the alarm, and again I would have to use the door lock to turn on the alarm and close the door. Its a 2000 honda civic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

ANSWER: Make, model & year of the vehicle?

Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Yes as far as I know it is a factory alarm. Yes when I hit the remote to lock the car the lights flash and the horn honks but the alarm will not turn on, no flashing light on the console but the car does lock. I will need to see if the security light flashes on the display. The car is a 2000 Honda Civic 4 door. California special edition. It has power locks but no power windows.

Answer
My expertise is in the after market.
I'd run it over to the service dept at
Honda and have them diagnose the codes,
reset any that are triggered and determine
why they were triggered at all.

The transponder security may be malfuctioning,
but they will need to inspect it to find out
nd correct it.

I hope it helps.
