Car Alarms: 1995 Acura Legend, valet mode, acura legend

Question
QUESTION: Hi & thanks - Have a '95 Legend.  Took the Bose radio out to replace, but went to the store 1st.  Car started fine.  When I came out I went to passenger side door, unlocked it and promptly set off the alarm.  Disconnected the battery.  When I reconnected lights etc worked fine but nothing happens when I turn the key - like the ignition was turned off by the security system.  Help.

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

QUESTION: It's the latter - parking llights etc.  As I look at the drivers side door, there's a little placard that says Security with an LED.  Must be aftermarket.  Thanks.

ANSWER: To try to disarm it,
look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no
alarm at all. Repeat steps to put into user
mode.

Let me know how it goes.

QUESTION: , but I don't see SECURITY on the dash because I took out the radio.  Thanks again.  You're going above ad beyond.Ain't it fun when you deal with professionals?  I went to take a look today and the flashing lights are the headlights.  There's a beeping sound

Answer
Yeah it's a total blast.
But seriously, when you pulled the radio,
you shut down the system. Need the code
from acura, or one of the acura clubs all
over the internet. Try them first.
If no valet, probably not after market.
If it were, then I'd say pull it and
repair the starter wire. Here the OEM
system is also the door lock system.

You need to talk to service about the options.

Sorry about that.
