Car Alarms: Remove Pursuit Alarm System, chevy k1500, spare fuse

Question
I have a '91 Chevy K1500 (1/2 ton truck) with auto trans. and a dealer installed Pursuit alarm, plus Lojack. I don't know the model, but a decal on the side window says "The Protector". The  truck stopped running in the middle of a road, and I had it towed to a garage. They said the problem was caused by the alarm and disconnected the part that prevents the car from starting. I can see some cut wires under the dash.

A few months later, I attempted to start the car and the started operated briefly, followed by the remainder of the alarm (horn and blinkers) operating. The problem was caused by a loose ground cable to the battery, which I fixed.  Unfortunately, the alarm became very sensitive and then operated continuously.  I noticed an extra wire to the horn, which I cut (stopping the audible alarm) and drove home with the emergency blinkers working.

I'm assuming voltage spikes caused by a poor battery connection have damaged the alarm.  I have had other issues with the alarm, and want to disconnect it.

Where are alarms generally installed, what size, and what do they look like?  How are alarms typically fused?  Friends say a spare fuse is frequently used, but we removed all spares without any luck - but maybe missed one.

I have the shop manual with schematics, purchased  typical alarm wiring info from http://www.installsupport.com/ and have electronics as a hobby, so have a few things going for me.

Thanks, Jim

Answer
First off, go to www.mrinstall.com and read through the basics.
But look under the dash to the left or right of the steering column
and you will see the Prestige brain box with white harness
head going to it. Trace the wiring to where the are connected at the ignition,
and cut wire, then tape off.

Be methodical, but should take about 45 mins to remove
all wiring and repair/tape off.

That should do it.

Good luck & be carefull under there!
