Car Alarms: 2004 jeep grand cherokee factory alarm, jeep grand cherokee, jeep cherokee

Question
just bought a 2004 jeep cherokee and the factory alarm wont turn on, when i press the lock button on the remote the lights blink and the horn chips but the red led light on the dash wont turn on, i tested it by locking my self in the truck the opening the door from the inside and it wont go off, if you have any ideas how to fix this problem it would be great... thanks.. this is the Factory alarm, and i dont think theres a reset button under the dash ,i looked all over for one...thanks

Answer
The factory alarm would only trigger if the truck
is violated, the ignition tampered with or,
if the doors are opened without the factory
remote (not always on this though :>( )

So there is no problem here. If you want to
add enhanced security, I suggest adding a decent
2 way paging alarm with a sensor that would
detect shock/impact or motion to trigger a siren.

But you do have 2 layers of security past the
lock and unlock from the factory.
The noise generating head light flashing system,
and an immobilizer in the ignition column.

So you do have a pretty good level of
security as it is now.

I hope this helps some.
