Car Alarms: Silencer Car alarm, valet mode, pontiac firebird

Question
I apparently have an alarm system on my 2002 Pontiac Firebird and the only info I can find is it is called a Silencer. My remotes have been broken for awhile and to disable the alarm I would manually open the door with the door key and insert the ignition key and turn it to the ON position and it would disable the alarm and allow me to start my car. The other day all of a sudden the car would not start. When I turn the key it does not disable the alarm. Also the "valet" or silence feature button located below my steering column has never worked to override the alarm. How can I either reset this alarm or even can could you tell me how to uninstall the stupid thing. I have never liked it from day one... Thank you in advance.

Answer
To try to disarm it,
ok, using that button/switch under the dash area,
Turn on the ignition key, press and hold in the button
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no
alarm at all. Repeat steps to put into user
mode.

Let me know how it goes.
