Car Alarms: Prestige/Audiovox APS 997 issue, valet mode, brain box

Question
I am an auto technician and we have a customer vehicle that came in for some serious repair work.  During the process we had to disconnect the battery and ever since being reconnected the alarm has not functioned properly.  Here is what I have so far.  I have traced every connection and all seem to be fine.    Grounds are good, power is there.  I can put the alarm in valet mode by using the valet switch however I can't get it back to user mode.  A friend of mine told me to hold the valet switch until the light goes out and it chirps, well that doesn't happen.  I have held the switch with the vehicle in valet mode key on for more that 60secs and it goes out when you let go only no chirp and the light stays off.  Remote doesn't work alarm is not functional.  I followed another techs advice of key on press the valet switch 3 times to reset it, well I get a chirp and a quick system test, but still no functionality from the alarm.  The led doesn't blink or stay illuminated.  This thing is driving me nuts and short of replacing the brain I don't know what else to do.  Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Answer
It sounds like a popped inline fuse.
I know you said you checked power, but
where? Go to the alarm brain box harness and check the red lead
again. If no Joy, then unplug and try resetting again.
It's KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD UP TO 6 SECONDS then you get
a chirp for valet or chirp chirp for user mode.

Otherwise, you might have a fried box.

Let me know what pans out here.
