Car Alarms: Rough Idle, astro start, resident technicians

Question
I just purchased a 2005 Chev. Colorado from a dealer. It has a Astro Start car starter model RS 1105. We could not get the remote to work. Finally they found out this starter has a kill switch (on/Off) toggle, it was in the off position. Once turned on the remote worked. After driving for a while the engine would run rough. The check engine light came on. I brought it back to the dealer and they said it was diagnosed as a #1 cylinder misfire and that is is where the starter is hooked in. They said when driving I should have the On/Off switch in the Off position and to only have it on when parked with ignition off.I checked the Astro Start website and that model does have an On/Off switch that they recommend being installed at the bottom of the dash, which it is, But it says nothing about turning to Off when driving.  I am confused.
Thanks, Wayne

Answer
On this one, the best thing here is
to go to my installers forum at
www.installsupport.com and see if
my resident technicians there can assist
with this project.

I unfortunately don't know the
system you are working with to advise
you properly on it's functions,
features or trouble shooting
information. Better to check with a tech
that might.

Good luck there.
