Car Alarms: F 150 factory alarm, alarmtek, fcc id

Question
QUESTION: I own a 1997 Ford F150 with a factory installed alarm. The remote control device has the notation:  FCC id GO43VT4T and the manaufacturer is TRW Inc 3165189.  The alarm is not armed but activates randomly. Today while I was in town the alarm sounded three times although the doors were unlocked.
Is there a quick cure for the problem or do I need to take the vehicle to a Ford dealer.

Thanks, Doug

ANSWER: I need to make sure.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Hi Robert, I wrote last week about the problem that I am experiencing with my factory installed Ford F150.  Since then I have managed to obtain a copy of the RAP module wiring diagram.  I've disconnect the hot leg input into the module until I can find a permanent fix.  While I was working on the module I noticed that the interior of the PU is really damp.  I live in Oregon and we have had eight weeks of solid rain.  Could the mositure be causing my random alarm problem.  I usually leave the vehicle parked in my drive but I could garage it if would cure the bloody thing from honking all night long. Thanks Doug

Answer
Sure, but why fuss with it's finicky nature?
Ok, not a problem.

Get out some basic install tools or get
a friend or a good technician
in there to do this.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. Yours was reset.
Try key in the drivers door, turn left, then
right to diasrm and unlock. If no joy,
you can disable it for good by doing the
following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
dark green/purple |-|
in the drivers kick panel.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the OEM alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

If you have already have an after market alarm
however:

(SIREN & FLASHING PARKING LIGHTS= AFTER MARKET
or is it:
CAR HORN & FLASHING HEADLIGHTS= OEM-FACTORY)

Then look for the over ride/valet button under
the dash area, probably to the left leg region,
drilled into the plastic kick panel.

Then it's: KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD IN BUTTON FIRMLY
UNTIL THE SIREN CHIRPS ONCE, AND THE PARKING LIGHTS
FLASH. THEN KEY OFF.

This is over ride, and the car should start.
The only thing that would work would be keyless
entry if it is installed. The alarm functions
have been suspended.

Let me know which applied to your issue.

Good luck.
