Car Alarms: COMPUSTAR CM1000A, resident technicians, trouble shooting

Hi well I installed this CM1000A model into my 02 caravan and nothing happens its says to program the remote and I did that ,or tried to but nothing happened instead it set of my check engine light in the van.I checked the power going into the system and coming out and going into the ignition but thats all that happens the lights dont work and I cant program the remote to set the alarm up .Please help I dont think I fried the module it doesn't smell like its fried or anything ,can you help me .thanks

my resident technicians there can assist
with this project.

I unfortunately don't know the
system you are working with to advise
you properly on it's functions,
features or trouble shooting
information. Better to check with a tech
that might.
