Car Alarms: 06 Civic Hybrid Factory Alarm Issue, elderly neighbors, stearing wheel

Question
QUESTION: We have an 06 Civic Hybrid with a factory alarm. When you turn the engine off (turn
key to the 0 position) it honks 1 time, same as it would if you were to hit the lock
button 2 times on the key fob.

The honk is a problem when we come home late as we have elderly neighbors
whose bedroom window is 8 feet away.

I am assuming that this is an alarm issue, as I cannot imagine why Honda would
want it loudly announced that you've turned your car off.

ANSWER: You would need to see the service dept at
Honda for the system. I don't believe you are
able to turn it off or down if
it's factory.

Have Honda make that determination though.

QUESTION: Sorry, I misidentified the alarm. The car does come with a factory alarm with
a blinking light in the dash. The dealership-installed an alarm (Possibly
KARR) which has a separate blinking light and valet button module below the
stearing wheel at the bottom of the dash. It works in tandem with the factory
alarm.

Actually I am not sure it is a KARR as i found some instructions on the
internet saying to turn ignition on then off, then to push the valet button 3
times w/in 10 seconds of turning car off. I did this and on the FIRST push of
the button, the led, which usually stayed on constant until alarm was armed,
turned off. Now the horn does not honk upon turning car off, but honks
when arming (once) and disarming (twice).

Does this info possibly help you identify the alarm to help me silence the
honks?

I really hope so.
Thanks
