Car Alarms: 1983 Porsche Alarm System, valet service, porsche 944

Question
I recently purchased a 1983 Porsche 944. Car is in good shape and only needs interior work. Anyway, the owners did not have the key for the factory installed alarm system and said that it was disabled. Well, after removing the interior and replacing the carpet and seats, which I did with the battery disconnected so I could remove the console. The alarm module is under the console behind the radio. Reconnected everything and attempted to start the car. It started and then the alarm went off (earsplitting). I had to disconnect the battery again to stop it. Then I disconnected the power wires to the alarm module and reconnected the battery and the car will not start. Reconnected the module and car started up again, but the alarm sounds after the battery is connected for about 10 seconds???????????? Is there a way to bypass or reset the alarm module?

Answer
Gotcha, let's put it into valet/service mode,
and try to reset the alarm to default mode.

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode to see if this was corrected.

Let me know if it works for yours.
