Car Alarms: Removing the alarm, prestige alarm, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1996 Chevy Truck that I would like to actually take the alarm out.  However I brought this truck from someone and have no idea how to do it.  Is it anyone in my area that can physicially come out and do it?

ANSWER: Ms. Tina,

Please be more descriptive if poss.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: No this is a Prestige Alarm that the previous owner installed himself.  I have tried working with the kill switch and holding it while turning and it still will not let me start the truck.  All of my lights flashes, come on, my horn works, but it just won't let me start it.  I just want it off the truck.

Answer
Ok, then you need to drop the
under steering column panel,
locate the brain box and the wiring
harness connected to the key switch
cylander, and remove them 1 by 1.

12V|red |+| ignition harness
STARTER|yellow or purple |+|ignition harness
IGNITION|pink |+|ignition harness

Then if the starter wire has a realy inline
for starter kill, cut it out, and
reattach the free ends to retore the starter.

That's all you need to do to "remove" the system so
you are not effected by it anylonger.

That'll do it.

Have a great day.
