Car Alarms: TRAILBLAZER WONT START, passlock bypass, passlock ii

Question
My 2003 Trailblazer won't start. Everything else works (ie. lights, radio, horn, etc) It just won't even crank. I searched the Internet and found that this vehicle is known for this problem. They say its because of the Anti Theft device and key chip not being recognized. I am a woman and need to know how to reprogram the key because the dealer is charging $250 - $550 for this. Please help me!! I don't even know where the Anti theft system is located!!! HELP!!!

Answer
Being a woman does not make a difference here.
For shame!

Not being a sexist, and with many women installers
on my payroll, I'd have to say that GM won't give a
poop. Chevy will certainly take full advantage
of you regardless of sex, creed,
color etc... They screw all people equally
when it comes to this subject.

Unfortunately, yes this
vehicle has a the PASSLOCK II key
based engine disabling system, and will require a
GM PLJX bypass module.

A bypass is required to circumvent for remote start applications.
If left unchecked, it will lock down the fuel injector
rail, and you will then need to
tow it in to GM for evaluation, and resetting.

This Passlock Bypass Module is designed to momentarilly
allow the engine to remote start by sending a proper
coded pulse to open the fuel rail passlock injector
cut off circuit.

The output from an alarm/remote starter
would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected
the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity
of the passlock system.

That is it's designed purpose.

This is a self learning, resistor sensing
and self adjusting module. Once the VATS/PASSLOCK
wires have been tapped,
you would press the program button to learn,
and it does. The car should then allow start
with any hardware store key.

if you want to buy yours now,
or, go to the site link below to learn more
about your truck's system, and buy the
appropriate unit there.

A decent after market alarm/remote start technician
will charge you around 50.00 labor on this,
but then NO passlock to deal with ever again.

Your call.
