Car Alarms: car alarm I didnt know I had, dash area, mustang gt

Question
Ok. I know this sounds stupid. I brought a 96 Mustang GT about a year ago. The other night I locked the drivers door and when I opened it up the alarm that I didn't know I had went off. Lights, horn, dead starter, etc. I know it had the Ford passive system (little key like chip under the dash) but this is different. ? is how did I arm it and where do you think it might be installed. I called Ford and they said it must be after market. I got it to stop by removing the positive side of the battery cable and then waiting a few seconds before reinstalling it. Everything was fine after that. But just the same if it happened once it should happen again so I need to disable it....Weird huh? Someone wants to disable his alarm.  Any help would be greatly appreciated...Blessings, Denny

Answer
You'll need to set off the alarm for a few seconds.
Then, look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode to see if this was corrected.

But if it does work, I'd keep it this way, and
replace the alarm asap with one you know and
understand how it operates for the best overall
experience.

Let me know if it works for yours.
