Car Alarms: Puzzling!, russian language skills, car alarm systems

Question
Hi, we are expats living in Kiev and just returned home from a 2 week vacation in North America. We have two cars and both have car alarms -by law you must have a car alarm in Ukraine.
The person staying at the house said that the remote of one car started to beep strangely and so she pulled the battery out. We just arrived home and the car was completely dead.....nothing. It has been very cold here....could this have something to do with the alarm system or do you think the battery is just dead?
The other car began by responding to the remote initially and then seemed to just lock down.....it also responds now as though the battery in that car is dead.
It is  Christmas here now and with lack of great Russian language skills it is difficult to explain the problem to people- obviously we can't get out to bring someone back. Any suggestions?

Answer
Start with a new battery I think. That always brings back the defaults in car alarm systems, however,
if you have remotes that do not work now,
no guaranty they will when the car is properly
powered. The programming may be lost at that point.

Try the fresh battery and let me know
if it helped.
