Car Alarms: anti theft system, electrical locks, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: i have a 1998 mustang gt with the factory alarm system on it and this is the problem is i can lock the doors with the key fob and when the theft light in the dash goes off bout 2 mins the alarm goes off and it does the same thing if i look the doors with the electrical locks inside the car the only way to keep it from going off is manually lock the doors.. what could be wrong and how do i fix it?

ANSWER: Please be more specific.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

Answer
It's the drivers door security/PATS interface wire that needs to be grounded.

Locate the dark green/purple wire
located in the driver kick panel in
the wire harness coming into the vehicle.

Splice into it and ground out. This disables
that trigger point, and then the dash light and headlight/
horn circuits.

The OEM Ford Factory Secure Lock system you have did
not come standard from the factory until 99.

Yours was likely installed at the
dealership so they could sell the car with a "security"
add on in the dealership's closing office during contract
writing of the car. Common practice.
