Car Alarms: Car Alarm/Remote Starter, passlock 2, chevrolet silverado

Question
I just installed a Titan Car Alarm/ Remote starter, i had permanently
bypassed my passlock 2 (1998 chevrolet SIlverado) by measureing the
resistance between my yellow and orange black in my ignition harness and
just jumping the proper resistor across them.  I did this 3 days prior to
installing my remote starter/alarm and had no problems.
When i fired up my truck for the first time after i installed my remote starter
my check engine light came on. Im not sure what i did, it runs fine, doesnt
stay in 2nd gear when i drive, it seems normal.  Im not sure what caused it
any ideas? I thought it might be the permanent bypass but that should have
come up earlier right?
Thx
Vaughn

Answer
The bypass is probably the culprit. But there
might be a wire missed (ignition) that controls
the check engine light. I'd look at this first.

Contact your seller for some install support
on this so you can correct it. Also check
the wiring chart (www.passlockbypass.com)
for this truck and double check your wiring.

Good luck.
