Car Alarms: 98 isuzu rodeo alarm goes off, isuzu rodeo, valet mode

Question
QUESTION: i have a factory installed alarm on a 98 isuzu rodeo the alarm goes off when no one is near car or is parked on side of house is there a sensitivity adjustment for this alarm or can i deactivate alarm by lockiing & unlocking door with key and not using remote this has happened at least 50 times in 2 years  thanks

ANSWER: It's an after market system from your description.
Probably dealership installed when
it was purchased originaly.

The shock/impact sensor seems the culprit here.
It's likely to be found under the dash area, blinking
when anything taps on the underpanel.
Locate and either unplug or turn down.
To simply disarm it, locate and use the
valet/overide switch.

To start, look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no alarm at all.

Let me know how it goes.

QUESTION: you have been a great help will try above steps the alrm was factory installed it is even shown in the owners nanual but it does not show how to overide is there a definite location for the toggle/ sensor or is it were ever the tech feels like putting it   thank   jim

Answer
Hmmm, ok then, let's
say that it is the factory system...

If the OEM alarm is malfunctioning now,
(car horn blarring and head lights flashing)
odds are, it will again.

Get out some basic install tools or get
a friend or a good technician
in there to do this.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
yellow/blue |-| drivers kick in a white plug.
|- negative polarity|.
Trigger the power lock and the factory alarm
arm wires at the same time to arm the alarm.
Trigger the power unlock and the factory alarm
disarm wires at the same time to disarm the alarm.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the OEM alarm functions entirely.

Let me know if I was correct.
