Car Alarms: Jeep Cherokee Limited 1994, valet mode, jeep cherokee

Question
QUESTION: I have lost key and fob for my Jeep Cherokee Limited 1994. Have had another key made by dealer so can get into the vehicle but unable to turn off alarm or immobiliser. Chrysler say they no longer make fob for that year. Help!!

ANSWER: Ms. Sharon,
I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Thanks for your quick reply Robert!  It must be an after market system as all boxes ticked for 2nd option.

ANSWER: ah,
  It's an after market system
from your description.

To simply disarm it, locate and use the
valet/overide switch.

To start, look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no
alarm at all. Repeat steps to put into user
mode.

Let me know how it goes.

QUESTION: Hi Rob - there is a black button. Tried exactly as you suggested but alarm still goes continuously until driver door is relocked with key and LED still flashing.
Appreciate your help v. much!

Answer
hmmm, and you did this in sequence and
quickly:

KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD VALET SWITCH IN FOR UP TO 7 SECONDS.
THEN IF YOU GET A RESPONSE, KEY OFF.

That's valet overide. If no joy, then
we need to move onto phase 2.  Remove,
replacement and re installation.

Try again and let me know please.
