Car Alarms: Chevy Malibu Anti-Theft Lock out, chevy malibu, passlock bypass

Question
QUESTION: My '95 Malibu keeps refusing to start due to the Anti-theft system in the car. If I let the car stand for 10 - 20 minutes it usually restarts. Can this system be by-passed? I live in the Bahamas and we do not have an authorized dealer here on this island who would have the necessary equipment to correct this problem.

ANSWER: Unfortunately, yes this
vehicle has a the PASSLOCK II key
based engine disabling system, and will require a
GM PLJX bypass module.

A bypass is required to circumvent for remote start applications.
If left unchecked, it will lock down the fuel injector
rail, and you will then need to
tow it in to GM for evaluation, and resetting.

This Passlock Bypass Module is designed to momentarilly
allow the engine to remote start by sending a proper
coded pulse to open the fuel rail passlock injector
cut off circuit.

The output from an alarm/remote starter
would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected
the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity
of the passlock system.

That is it's designed purpose.

This is a self learning, resistor sensing
and self adjusting module. Once the VATS/PASSLOCK
wires have been tapped,
you would press the program button to learn,
and it does. The car should then allow start
with any hardware store key.

QUESTION: What is involved to install this device

Answer
This module is installed by tapping
the specified wires in the ignition databus molex connector,

then press the button and it learns the passlock codes
and resistance values automatically.

Ground the input to the body, instead of
the momentary pulse from a remote starter,
and the passlock is defeated permanantly,
or until ungrounded.

That's how it's done. :>)
