Car Alarms: Fitting remote to Euro BMW e36 1993, bmw e36, resident technicians

Question
I bought a remote door locking kit from the States - it was supposedly plug
and
play but there is no port to plug it into on my car.European and US specs for
BMW's
are apparently different.
The manufacturer of the kit is not being awfully helpful - I am trying to hard
wire it
in. I have located from the BMW manual a couple of wires that feed to the
boot lock
- one is lock and the other unlock I think( I get either +12v or 0 depending
on the
lock status.). The remote controller has  lock and unlock outputs  which also
switch
between 0 and 12v - but when I connect the wires appropriately and operate
the
remote the door status does not change. I realise I don't really know how the
lock
system works - the installation manual for a similar older type of system
refers to a
negative and positive pulse system. How is this pulse transmitted? Via the
lock
unlock wires or what?
Be grateful if you can give me a clue!

Let me guide you to the right place
Either go to my installers forum at
www.installsupport.com and see if

I don't know enough on this system to advise
you properly.

Good luck there.
