Car Alarms: 01 honda accord alarm will set but not sound, honda accord coupe, valet mode

Question
QUESTION: my 2001 honda accord coupe ex...: When I press the "lock" button on the key
chain once... the parking lights blink once, the doors lock and the security
lights blink. However if I disturb the car (for example unlocking the door with
the key and opening the door -- this set off the alarm on a friends car of the
same type) the alarm does not sound. The same thing happens if I push the
"lock" button twice except that the horn beeps once to signal that the alarm
is set.... and not alarm sound and no flashing headlights...
The horn works and all the lights work for normal driving purposes.
Thank you

ANSWER: Should be no problem really.
It appears from your expaination, that the
car alarm is in service mode.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area, usually to the
left of the leg drilled into a hidden away spot,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.
Let me know what happens.

QUESTION: Hmmm. Can't find the "valet/overide" button. Nothing in the owner manual
either...
Also, I'm confused by the location you describe (usually to the left of the leg
drilled into a hidden away spot).
Thanks, Dylan

Answer
It means the installer put this button in the area
I mentioned normally to keep it within reach and well
hidden. It can be part of the antenna too, but without
being there to inspect it, hard to say where exactly.

Try a local Best Buys or, Circuit City to have them
locate it and suspend the reinstate your system and
showw you how to reset.
