Car Alarms: 2007 Toyota Corolla not starting, car alarm system, 2007 toyota corolla

Question
QUESTION: My son has a 6 month old  2007 Toyota Corolla. He returned to college after coming home from Thanksgiving holiday and his car would not start. Checked the battery etc and now we believe it is the alarm system.  He can't get much help from the dealership- they just want him to have it towed there.  Is there anyway to disarm the system or reset it?  He has tried a number of things with no success.  The two cars we have had alarms in have been nothing but problems for us--don't think I'll ever purchase an car alarm system again. Ahhh!  Any advice, before he pays a fortune to have it towed?  Thanks!

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Oh- OK sorry I didn't give you enough info.  I'm kind of dealing with this second hand, but I believe it was a factory installed alarm.  My husband finalized the deal on the car and then he was told that the alarm was already installed and that if he didn't want it they would have to take it out, and that he wouldn't be able to take the car home that day.  That was frustrating since he was doing an out of town purchase and only had that one day to purchase the car.  Since he coulnd't wait to have the alarm taken out he went ahead and bought the system and they activated right then. Does that sound like a factory installed alarm?- I'm guessing so.
My son says that the blue light on the dashoard that is usually on is now off.  He didn't say anything about lights flashing or sirens going off.  Sorry I can't give you better information- I am dealing with this long distance from where he is.  Thank you so much for your prompt reply.  Looking forward to any more insight you can offer.  Thanks!

Answer
The "blue" LED flashing light
sort of tells me that It's an after market system
from your description. so,.............

Let's take a whack at it & try to locate and use the
valet/overide switch.

To start, look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no
alarm at all. Repeat steps to put into user
mode.

Let me know how it goes.
