Car Alarms: Car Alarms, 20 inch chrome wheels, honda accord lx

Question
I have just purchased a 2003 Honda Accord LX. I don't know how good the factory alarms are that come on the car already and if its necessary to buy a add on alarm. The main reason I am looking in to a add on is because I don't think my 20 inch chrome wheels are protected by the factory alarm. So my question is how easy is this accord year stolen since it has a Rolling code ECU engine immobilizer? And if necessary what alarm would be best for a good price?

Answer
Dear Ms. M.
  The anti-theft starter disable in
the 03+ Accord car is fine. The key has
a coded chip and the ignition needs to see
the proper coded key to start the engine,
so you can't snatch it easilly.

That being said,
you are correct in that the wheels n rims are an
easy target right now, as is anything in the vehicle.

I suggest a good paging alarm system
(see at www.pagingalarm.com )
and an electronic tilt sensor
(www.12VOLTPLANET.com)
to detect the angle/level of the vehicle
once parked, and trigger if the car is
jacked up 5% to protect the pretty shoes
it has.

The only reason to get a bypass is if
you also select a system that remote starts
it as well.

Lot's out there to do this project right,
just depends on how much protection and
convenience & comfort you desire.

Let me know if I can outfit
your car.
