Car Alarms: car alarm, valet mode, side doors

Question
QUESTION: Hi,hope you can help me.94 caprice got t boned and had to replace both driver side doors.Got it repaired and now The alarm does not want to work. when I open the doors with the key like it used to, it would go off this is a dealer factory installed alarm e15gm some say it is a vss-350?the panic button on remote will sound alarm, an dashboard led blinks when i turn vech. off thanks ken oh also the ide that did not get hit also does not sound alarm is there a way to reset it?

ANSWER: The door triggers (dome light wire)
may have been cut. I would
run it in to a local car alarm shop for
a quick inspection, and a reset.

Can try this:

look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no
alarm at all. Repeat steps to put into user
mode.

But if that does not work, you need to repair the door
trigger wires.

Good luck.

Answer
The "reset" is done using the same button, but
I don't know the unit you have there, or what damage
occured to cause it to do this issue.

It may have gone into a silent mode, but you'd
need to have the manual to know how to
go in and out of this mode.

I would suggest looking up the manufacturer
by using the remotes at www.keynfob.com ,
and then ask them what the procedure is to
toggle between the modes & features.

All alarms have differing procedures, so
my best thing here is to get the manual to
reset and re program the system to default.

Wish I had more.
