Car Alarms: 1996 Nissan Maxima Alarm Problem, nissan maxima, override switch

Good day, I have a 1996 maxima automatic with a conlog alarm system and a seperate immobiliser(not sure wich one though). According to the cars user manual there should be an override switch in the console, but nothing there except a hole. The alarm system has gone completely mad and I want to over ride it. Any ideas?
If I knew which wires were for the original over ride switch I could join them.
I did speak to a nissan dealer and he said there was a sequence to reset the system but wasn't going to tell because they do it for $100 and if i wanted to know I'd have to tow the car in so they could do it.
