Car Alarms: ALARM NOT WORKING, beep sound, auto mechanics

Question
QUESTION: I own a 2000 Acura 3.2 TL with a 7-year 100,000 miles extended warranty.  My remote keys & security alarm (acura original) stopped functioning.  I went to the dealer & they changed the battery for me.  After that, my remote keys work but not security alarm.  What could be the problem?  My extended warranty expired on July 4.  My current mileage is only 57,000.  Is it common to incur this problem at such a low mileage?

Another problem was that my engine mount also broke when I took my car for a service in September.  The customer service suggested I did a 60,000 major service instead.  The mechanics found out that my engine mount broke & that cost me more that $400.  Is it common to break the engine mount at 57,000 miles?

ANSWER: Ok, when you did have the "security" part,
what was the vehicle doing? Car horn honking
or, a siren wailing?
Headlights flashing or, parking lights?

You may be in a valet type mode.
There may be a way to reset it if
it's an after market device.

Let me know on that, and on the other
question, I can't offer anything,
as it concerns the mechanics of this
vehicle, not the wiring, and I am
not qualified in that end of things to
offer expert advice on it. Please forgive.
Try a mechanic on this site for best info
for that one I think.

Get back to me on the first part though.

QUESTION: When the security alarm was working, it will give me a beep sound & parking lights flashing.  It was factory manufactured & installed (original package).  Is it still the valet type mode problem?  Can other auto mechanics fix this problem other than the dealer?  Is it common to occur at 57000 miles?

Answer
Ah, Encouraging. :>)

Should be no problem really.
It appears from your expaination, that the
car alarm (after market) is in service mode.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area, usually to the
left of the leg drilled into a hidden away spot,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.
Let me know what happens.
