Car Alarms: 98 mounteer anti theft system, side kick panel, negative polarity

Question
1998 Mountaineer AWD 5.0 Liter some times it starts some times it does not. When it does not start the an theft light on the dash is flashing rapidly. when it does not flash it starts fine. drivers door lock is broken. I removed the door panel and unplugged and replugged the wire to the lock in and it started OK for a few times but we are back where we started. Is there some way to disable the anti theft to get around this problem.
Thanks
Barry

Answer
Ok, Barry, take out the OEM system entirely
by locating and grounding out the factory disarm
wire. This will keep it out of the mic until
un grounded.

Get out some basic install tools or get
a friend or a good technician
in there to do this.

Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
dk. green/purple |- negative polarity|
at the harness coming out of the door
in the driver's side kick panel.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the OEM alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
