Car Alarms: Keyless entry/alarm malfunction 1999 Suburban, valet mode, gm dealership

Question
My alarm system is factory-installed.  The remote has 3 options: Lock, Unlock and "X2 for rear".  There is a small light on the corner of the drivers side dash.  Several weeks ago,the alarm began going off when it shouldn't have. We've replaced remote batteries, battery terminals and finally, the whole battery. After the alarm goes off for no reason, pressing the Lock or Unlock results in 3 short toots of the horn. The dash light flashes until the key is turned in the ignition. There seems to be no pattern to when the malfunction occurs. It may happen today and then not again for several days.

Answer
If this is a malfunctioning GM device,
this needs to be inspected at a GM dealership
as it is a factory alarm issue, and
may become a problem if left unchecked &
not reset.

However...
there is no "factory" alarm per say. There is
a PASSLOCK II anti theft-ignition immobilizer,
but if you can still start the truck, it's unlikey
the PASSLOCK is the issue.

If it's an after market alarm, that has a siren
and flashes the parking lights, installed at the
dealership, then we may be able to help
get you disarm & reset it.

To disarm it, try to locate and use the
valet/overide switch.

Have a look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. The next step is to
either remove the alarm or, try to identify,
and get new remotes for it.

But once in Valet mode, it will allow the car
to start and operate like there was no
alarm at all. Repeat steps to put into user
mode.

Let me know which you discover to
be at issue here & how it goes.
