Car Alarms: 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Alarm, viper alarm system, pontiac grand prix

Well, I found out that my Anti-Theft Module in my Grand Prix isn't functioning correctly.  It locks the shifter up every once in a while when the security light starts blinking.  I do not have the remote entry device but am buying a new Viper alarm system.  I was wondering if there was any way to get around the Module without having to replace it all together b/c i honestly dont have the $600 my dealership wants to do it.
