Car Alarms: Chapman car alarm / Code alarm, valet service, dash area

Question
I have a 1997 Ford explorer when I bought the truck it had a alarm in it already.  Know it is giving me trouble it is not letting me start my truck. When I turn the key on it will not start and sometimes the alarm will go off, then shut down. It took a a about 3 hrs  before I could start it again.  I just got in and turned the truck on and it started it worked good for about 2 weeks and know it won't start again. .  the battery is at 12V and I took the alternator off and had it check it is also good.  How do I remove the alarm from my truck. This alarm is nothing but trouble.  I just want to get it out of my truck. What do I need to do?

Thanks,
Ralph

Answer
Gotcha, We'll go with after market solution first.

Let's put it into valet/service mode,
and try to reset the alarm to default mode.

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.
If this had a starter kill relay installed,
it would now be opened, and the engine would
turn over when tried.

You would repeat these steps to go back to
user mode to see if this was corrected.

Let me know if it works for yours.
