Car Alarms: Disable passive alarm only., replacement transmitters, lexus es 330

Question
QUESTION: Recently purchased a 2004 Lexus ES 330. It has factory alarm which works the way I want. It also has an after market alarm integrated into the factory alarm. When I enable the after market alarm the system self-arms (passively) itself. Works fine. Except I do not want to self arm, like when I getting gas. I only want it to arm when I arm it actively. No literature on after market alarm.  I know I do not have to use after market alarm but I would like to. Can you help?  Thank you.

ANSWER: Try putting the after market alarm into valet
overide mode.

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

At this point. the alarm would have reset.

That leaves the factory system, and you can then try
to identify the alarm you have, and then try to
change the settings once you get a manual for it
if you sill want to retain it's functions.

I hope this applies to yours.

QUESTION: How do you go about identifying what alarm system is installed?
Thanks.

Answer
The answer I usually give here is to go to
www.KEYLESSRIDE.com or, www.AUTOTECHS.com ,
or, www.KEYNFOB.com
and identify what system you have by the FCC ID#
on the back of the remote. These are all
specialty shops designed
to provide replacement transmitters.

But you can at least ID it.
