Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 97 f150 compressor, air compressor, thanx

hello

is there a special tool I need to remove the air compressor? Its frozen and Id like
to replace it myself . . .Ive been told that I should take it and have it drained,
replace compressor myself, and take it back and have it recharged - is this the
best way to do it without having to spend 1200?

You have to replace the:

compressor
accumulator
orifice tube.

BUT you need to flush out the system with a flushing agent BEFOE you install the new compressor or the small aluminum pieces that are in the system now will go right back into the new compressor
