Car Alarms: 2002 Grand Prix Alarm, alarmtek, side fender

Question
QUESTION: Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity on a grand Prix factory alarm? It goes off in the middle of the night for absolutely no reason, and not every night, maybe four time a week.

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

QUESTION: It is definetly a factory system. Also you probably should know it is a 2002 grand Prix. When armed it has a blinking red led on the dash. and , for some reason it seems to be set off real easy if I tap around the rear passenger side fender( if that means anything )

Answer
No reason I can think of that a "factory" alarm would react to vibration of any kind. Let's say it
was an aftermarket system here. Then you
would look under the dash area for a shock sensor
to unplug, or turn down.

But not a factory system, no sensor like that exsists.
If you think it may be an after market piece,
try to locate the sensor and see if unplugging it solves
the issue. If convinced I am wrong, and this is a
factory system, then you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
orange/black |-  |driver kick panel.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

Let me know which works for you.
