Auto Insurance Claims: Drain damage to car, apartment community, gas tank

I was dropping my friend off in a gated apartment community when after I dropped him off I went over a drain that was not sitting sturdy on the drain basin. Therefor it propped up as I went over it causing extensive damage to my exhaust system and putting a hole in my gas tank. I spoke to people in the neighborhood who said the property manager had been told of the problem but never got around to fixing it. Am I able to recover the damage done to my car from the complex?

Hi Saul,

You will need to get written statements from the people who say they reported this to the manager. If the manager was aware of the problem and did not correct it then he or the complex is responsible for your damage.
