Car Alarms: camaro car alarm, dash flashes, dash area

Question
hello I have a 92 camaro that had the battery removed for two weeks, put in a new battery powers up good except won't crank, pulled starter checked good, when I hooked up the battery the siren went off and led light on dash  flashes, please tell me how to disarm the alarm I don't really need it. thanks in advance.

Answer
If it's an aftermarket alarm, there would
be a reset or valet switch under the dash area,
that would help you out. But you'd need to
tell me if there's an LED flashing in the dash
when that happens, and if a siren is sounding,
and the parking lights flashing at the same time
you can't start it, then it is indeed an
after market alarm. The next time this happens,
try the following:

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

That should do it.

If it's the vehicle security from Chevy,
this would be a VATS reset.

GM would have to be involved to re program the
ignition keys, or you can permanantly bypass
it using the PLJX module (see at www.PASSLOCK1.com)
And then this trouble will not happen again.

Hopefully, it's the first option. Likely
though, it's a bit of both.
The siren/flashing & noise generating
after market alarm, & the VATS system
keeping it from starting.

When you powered down
it probably wiped the memory.

So use a mix of both of these suggestions
to correct your vehicle's troubles.
Good luck.
