Car Alarms: disc alarm for a 95 mitsubishi montero, mitsubishi montero, fcc id

Question
hi, my girlfriend only has one key and one remote for her montero and lately the button on her remote hasn't been working properly. the best decision we have come upon is to disable the alarm and buy new remotes or a new alarm later on. i'm not familiar with her car at all, so we need to know the best way to disable her alarm and i believe it is oem.

Answer
No, sorry but you've been misinformed.
There was no alarm in this year Montero from the
Factory.

It's an aftermarket piece. You can identify which
system you have by using the FCC. ID.# found
on the back of the remote. Try a site
like www.keynfob.com or remotes4you.com
to track down the one you have.

As far as the overide button, It's a hidden
device/switch, and is probably down under
the dash area, near your knee/leg.

Let's try to put it into valet/service mode.
When you locate the button or switch,
turn on the ignition key, press and hold
in the button (little spring loaded micro button,
red or black possibly) until the alarm chirps 1 time.
This should over ride the system, and only the
keyless entry part, if installed, would still be
operating.

The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid. This is valet/overide/reset.

This solves the problem for now.
The car should start now.

Then if you want to remove it, take it to a local
after market alarm dealer and have it done there.

They may even be able to reset/reprog. the features on
the alarm you have, to allow you to use the system
more comfortably, but of course, your call.

Have a nice evening.
