Car Alarms: 2001 Nissan Altima Factory Alarm goes off everytime it rains!, nissan altima, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: I bought my 2001 Nissan Altima with only 9 miles on it from the dealership with the factory alarm system already installed. I noticed recently that when it rains the alarm keeps going off continuously. It will switch in between chirping and full alarm with lights flashing and horn blowing. I thought that if I just left the doors unlocked that it will stop the alarm from going off, Wrong! The doors will lock by themselves and the alarm will go off again. This thing is getting very aggravating at this point. It seems like the car is outside saying, "you can't steal me".lol. But really, its a 2001 and its really embarrassing to have this thing just continuously going off for no reason and I don't really want to put a lot of money into it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

QUESTION: Yes, it is a factory alarm. It was a brand new vehicle with the alarm factory installed.

ANSWER: YES, ALL OF THAT!

Answer
Ok, normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
green/yellow |-| at the smart entrance control,
Located to the right of the steering column.
It is black or blue in color.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
