Car Alarms: 2000 Kia Sportage alam issue, alarmtek, 2000 kia sportage

Question
QUESTION: Two weeks ago my dad's truck got hit with a branch that fell from a tree. The body work was fixed and just got the car back yesterday 9-7-07. But the alarm keeps going off every 30 minutes or so. If you are able to get it to stop for an extended period of time it still goes off at odd hours. Can you tell me how to set the sinsitivity down on it or disable the Kia factory alarm? The body shop does not want to touch the alarm and I called a ton of dealers today to see if they could take a look at it but they are all booked. Any help you can provide will be appreciated.

ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

QUESTION: Hello,

It is the factory Kia alarm so you are getting the horn honking and the parking lights flashing. He has owned the car since new and there is no 3rd party alarm installed. The owners manual doesn't say which fuse to pull or just how to disable the alarm by switch. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Answer
I have a conflict with the reply.

If it were the factory system. the HEADLIGHTS would
be flashing. Not the parking lights.

Kia also sells aftermarket alarms
and put's them in at the sale as keyless entry,
security optional equipment.

Please double check that for me to advise.
