Car Alarms: Disabling alarm system, brain box, fcc id

Question
QUESTION: I replaced the battery in my daughters 1998 Camry and heard a brief chirp. when I tried to enter the car an alarm went of and would not stop without disconnecting the power. This was a shock considering we had no idea that the car ever had an alarm. I searched and found it to be a code alarm elite DM 1500. Can you tell me how to disarm or bypass this while still allowing the car to start. We have no remote for the system. Thanks in advance for your help.

ANSWER: I think the overide switch is also part
of the LED assembly on Code Alarms.
It's a push button/LED combo switch.

Try key on, press in and hold the valet/overide/reset
button/LED until you receive a chirp.

This should be reset. At this point the car
would start if there was a starter kill relay
inline, and there would be no alarm.

Then if you want to salvage the alarm
and use it again, you will need to aquire
new transmitters and program to it.

Try a site like www.keylessride.com.
www.keynfob.com , or www.remotes4you.com .

All specialize in identifying and replacing
said transmitters, using the FCC ID# on the
back of the remote, or imprinted on the brain box.

If you want to remove it, I strongly suggest
you read a bit at www.mrinstall.com
and see if you want to attempt it.

If no luck, look to the forum at
www.INSTALLSUPPORT.com and see if anyone there
can chime in with some other ideas.

I hope this helps you with
your troubles. Good luck with it.

QUESTION: Wow, that was fast! But I'm still a bit miffed. I don't seem to be able to locate this Valet/override/reset button. All I find under the dash is a motion detector with what appears to be a sensitivity dial and the brain box itself. Can you describe what I am looking for and where inline I would find it. Thanks again....

ANSWER: With Code alarm, it was PART of the LED.
push it in, It should be a spring loaded button too.

That IS the valet switch.

QUESTION: I'm not sure of what you're saying IS the valet switch. The motion sensor has a tiny led and a twist dial, neither of which are a spring loaded button and there is an LED positioned on the dash in what was once a blank panel but it also does not depress.

Answer
Ok, the older models of the Code alarm had
a square LED or a round one, that doubled as a valet switch.
If yours is not, then keep searching. Need it.

Look under the dash area near the left leg perhaps.
If not found, you will need to either aquire one,
or remove the brain box, and repair any ansullary
wires under the dash.
