Car Alarms: Factory alarm in Jeep, jeep question, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1991 Jeep Cherokee LTD. My problem is that the factory alarm does not always respond to the remote. When armed, it will drain the battery over night. I need to know how to permanently remove the factory alarm system.

ANSWER: Please tell me what you are experiencing.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
Or,
is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take, to help you to fix this
situation you're in quickly.

QUESTION: It is factory. The box under the dash that says "security alarm" has the Chrystler logo on it. Also, when I unplug the connector from that box the car won't start. When the alarm goes off it's just the horn honking, headlights flashing and a light on the dash. No siren. It's also keyless entry.

Answer
You can't remove it, but if it's the factory alarm,
normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you can disable it for good by doing the following:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
green/orange |-| in the drivers kick panel.
Once Located, splice into this wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.

Have a good day.
