Car Alarms: 2005 Mercury Montego Securilock Wont Start Problem, 2005 mercury montego, ford mercury

Question
My 2005 Mercury Montego with factory Securilock anti-theft system won't start though I'm using a factory coded key.  The red "theft lock" icon on the dashboard is blinking.  The owner's manual is no help.  Is there a way to fix this myself and get my car started or must I have it towed to the dealer?

Answer
No unfortunately not. Short of adding a bypass
kit to the ignition that is keyless, and would
not require the code key any longer (the bypass
alone is 63.00 then labor) I'd opt to have
Ford/Mercury inspect the issue.

Since this car is under warranty, and should
be covered for this, that's the best thing really.

I mean you can always try to do the fix sure,
but in my mind, there is a reason why a car
this new would have this problem. If it were
me, I'd want to know, and fix the OEM system
so it's not a recurring issue. But that's
me.

Your call here though.
Let me know what your solution is.
