Car Alarms: faulty alarm / need to replace key alarm, battery cables, honda accord

Question
Hi, I was wondering if you could help me.  In 2000, I bought a 96 Honda Accord and had a factory alarm installed during the time of purchase.  I have since moved out of state and I have noticed my alarm is starting to malfunction on me.  A killswitch was added during the alarm installation and from time to time, my engine won't turn over.  I've resolved this problem by jumping my car which is odd.  I have checked the battery and it is as good as new.  Do you think it's faulty battery cables or the killswitch engaging?  One more thing, i need to replace my key alarm.  Do you recommend calling the dealer for this?  thanks!

Answer
No, I'd have to disagree. This is an after market alarm
installed at the dealership upon sale I think.

Using the remote you have, go to www.keynfob.com
and identify the alarm.

Once done, you can get all kinds of info
on it at the manufacturers website if available.

But for now, since you know where the
"kill switch" is.,
turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button until the
alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

This is overide mode. Then repeat the steps to
return to user mode. You might need a fresh battery,
but I think it may reset like I said and allow
your to use it again.

Let me know if this works for you.
