Car Alarms: Micro #8008-99 car alarm not responding, valet mode, dash area

Question
The alarm in my car (manual say Micro #8008-99)is stuck in valet mode and not responding to the remote at all.  I replaced the battery in the remote device, but still no reaction.  What happened was that instead of locking it the other day, I mistakenly pressed and held the Unlock button, which put it in valet mode.  When I then did the same thing to take it out of valet mode, there was no response.  At least I can manually unlock the doors and drive.  Should I give up on the alarm system?  Have it removed?  Leave well enough alone?  This car was stolen a few months ago, I got it back and this system was installed, but I think it might not be a good one.  It's a good idea to have an alarm, but it makes me nervous ...

Answer
Ok, let's put it into user mode.

Look under the dash area for a little red
or black button.

When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button
until the alarm chirps 1 time.
This reset the system, and it would return
to a usable mode.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go out. That's reset.
The system should be back in your control.

Have a read through the the manual fo it
at www.mircoalarm.com (the technical support section)
and see how to toggle in and out of valet mode,
and what can and can not be done with that remote.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.
